Giants, Posey have mutual interest in deal
Buster Posey - C - San Francisco Giants
Jan. 23, 2013 - 9:50 AM ET

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Giants and Buster Posey have mutual interest in reaching a long-term contract, but that there's no real urgency to complete a deal.

Posey, who was arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter as Super Two player, agreed to a one-year, $8 million contract with the Giants last week. Rosenthal speculates that a seven-year, $120 million extension, buying out his three remaining arbitration seasons and his first four years of free agency, might be enough to get a long-term deal done. However, there's no indication that anything is imminent.
