Rays signed RHP Juan Carlos Oviedo to a minor league contract.
Oviedo underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery in September 2012 and probably won't be recovered until the very end of the 2013 season. The Rays hold an option for 2014 on the 30-year-old right-hander, who was known for years as Leo Nunez before admitting to identity fraud.
