NFL reinstates Saints head coach Sean Payton
Saints Offense - TM - New Orleans Saints
Jan. 22, 2013 - 11:30 AM ET

The NFL has reinstated Saints coach Sean Payton.

Payton wasn't scheduled to come off his season-long Bountygate suspension until after the Super Bowl in New Orleans, but commissioner Roger Goodell showed a slight bit of leniency. "Sean fully complied with all the requirements imposed on him during his suspension," Goodell said in a statement. Now the five-year contract Payton signed with the Saints last month kicks in and he can get back to work -- beginning with this week's Senior Bowl festivities in Mobile, Alabama. With this, the entire Bountygate saga is mercifully behind us.
