Red Sox and Jarrod Saltalamacchia avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract.
WEEI.com's Alex Speier reports that the deal is worth $4.5 million. Saltalamacchia, who was arbitration-eligible for the final time this winter, made $2.5 million last season while batting .222/.288/.454 with 25 home runs, 59 RBI and a .742 OPS in 448 plate appearances with the Red Sox. He's now set to become a free agent after the 2013 season.
