A-Rod undergoes successful surgery on hip

Alex Rodriguez underwent successful surgery on his left hip Wednesday.
The Yankees announced that the surgery "went as planned and without complication." The full recovery time is expected to be six months, which means Rodriguez probably won't return to major league play until around June or July. Kevin Youkilis will be asked to fill in at third base initially.
