Chargers land Mike McCoy as next head coach
Chargers Offense - TM - San Diego Chargers
Jan. 15, 2013 - 7:35 PM ET

Chargers hired Mike McCoy as their head coach, signing him to a four-year contract.

San Diego goes from one offensive-minded head coach in Norv Turner to another. During the last four seasons, McCoy has drawn praise for morphing his offense to fit the varying skill sets of Kyle Orton, Tim Tebow and Peyton Manning -- and still having great success. Now he'll turn his attention to Philip Rivers, who he's seen up close eight times in the last four years. McCoy, a former World Football League quarterback, was also drawing interest from the Cardinals, Jaguars and Bears.
