Uncertainty surrounding Mike Napoli's hip

A source told the Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo that Mike Napoli's hip condition is "one of those things where it could go anytime or five years from now."
"Nobody really knows, which is why the Red Sox want strong language after putting $40 million on the table for him," the source said. According to Jim Bowden of ESPN.com, the Red Sox would like to alter Napoli's contract from three years to one year. It remains totally up in the air as to whether the two sides will agree to a compromise.
