Report: Chiefs to name Sutton defensive boss
Chiefs Defense - TM - Kansas City Chiefs
Jan. 14, 2013 - 8:35 PM ET

The New York Daily News reports Jets assistant head coach/linebackers Bob Sutton will be named defensive coordinator for the Chiefs.

The Chiefs had requested permission to interview Sutton Thursday night. Sutton has been with the Jets since 2000, under four different head coaches, running the defense from 2006-2008. His 2008 unit was ranked near the top of the NFL in run defense and sacks. Sutton has coached both the 4-3 and the 3-4 throughout his career. Ex-Cowboys DC Rob Ryan could replace Sutton on the Jets defensive staff.
