Panthers hire Giants personnel man as GM
Panthers Offense - TM - Carolina Panthers
Jan. 9, 2013 - 5:15 PM ET

Panthers hired Giants senior pro personnel analyst Dave Gettleman for their general manager position.

Gettleman beat out fellow Giants personnel man Marc Ross and Panthers interim GM Brandon Beane, among others, for the job. He spent the past 15 years with the Giants, and has been in the league since 1986. Already 61, it's possible the Panthers hired Gettleman with the intention of having him groom Beane, whom they remain high on. Regardless of its parameters, Carolina's new front-office setup should be a vast improvement on the final few years of Marty Hurney's reign as GM.
