Braves general manager Frank Wren said Sunday on SiriusXM's Inside Pitch show that Julio Teheran is probably the favorite for the No. 5 starter job.
Wren made the statement based on Teheran's strong finish in the Dominican Winter League, where he posted a 3.32 ERA and 24/9 K/BB ratio over 30 2/3 innings. It's a bit of a surprising stance given that the soon-to-be 22-year-old had a disappointing 5.08 ERA over 26 starts at Triple-A in 2012 and has struggled in his brief time with the Braves. Randall Delgado will be his chief competitor for the No. 5 spot, which they'll hold down until Brandon Beachy (elbow) is ready.
