Taveras pulled from action in DWL playoffs

Cardinals prospect Oscar Taveras, who had been playing for Aguilas Cibaenas in the Dominican Winter League playoffs, was "pulled from action" on Friday.
No reason has been given for the sudden departure, though it's common for big leaguers and prospects to quit winter league play right after the holidays. The 20-year-old outfielder hit a blistering .321/.380/.572 with 23 homers and 94 RBI for the Cardinals' Double-A affiliate in 2012. He's on the fast track to the majors, and could even open the 2013 campaign in St. Louis.
