FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports the Rangers are finalizing an agreement with free agent Lance Berkman.
The financial details aren't yet official, but it's expected to be a one-year deal in the $10-11 million range with a vesting option for 2014. After an injury-marred 2012, Berkman will postpone retirement for at least another season and projects to open the 2013 campaign as the Rangers' primary designated hitter. His signing likely blocks Mike Olt from having an expanded role. Mitch Moreland will remain Texas' everyday first baseman.
