Lions GM Martin Mayhew stated Friday that the organization has not lost faith in Matthew Stafford as their franchise quarterback.
"He's a phenomenal player, great teammate. The guy's got tremendous skill level, great arm talent. He's our guy," said Mayhew. Stafford barely missed his second straight 5,000-yard passing season, throwing for 4,967 yards and setting an NFL single-season record with 727 attempts. However, his 20 touchdown passes was largely a disappointment in fantasy circles. Mayhew's vote of confidence comes on the heels of reports that the Lions intend on giving Stafford a new deal this off-season for salary-cap reasons.
