Chiefs land Andy Reid as 13th head coach
Chiefs Offense - TM - Kansas City Chiefs
Jan. 4, 2013 - 12:20 PM ET

Chiefs agreed to terms with Andy Reid on a five-year contract that makes him their head coach with personnel responsibilities yet to be clarified.

It's been a busy Friday for Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, who also relieved GM Scott Pioli of his duties this morning. Although early speculation had ex-Browns GM Tom Heckert joining Reid in Kansas City, he's now expected to bring in Packers director of operations John Dorsey to run scouting and the draft. Reid will likely maintain personnel control in a manner similar to Bill Belichick, Mike Shanahan, Pete Carroll, and Jeff Fisher. Ex-Eagles DC Juan Castillo is expected to be hired as OL coach while Pat Shurmur and Brad Childress are candidates for offensive coordinator. The Chiefs complied with the NFL's Rooney Rule by interviewing Falcons ST coach Keith Armstrong.
