A source tells the Chicago Tribune that the Bears have asked for permission to interview Packers OC Tom Clements for their head coaching vacancy.
Asking for permission is a mere formality -- NFL teams are required to allow their coordinators to interview for head coaching jobs. It's clear that Bears GM Phil Emery is in search of an offensive guru. He's also talking to Broncos OC Mike McCoy and Bucs OC Mike Sullivan. Clements was the Packers' quarterbacks coach before getting promoted to offensive coordinator when Joe Philbin left for Miami after last season. He also won a national title as Notre Dame's quarterback in 1973.
