Rookie? RGIII guides 'Skins to NFC East title
Robert Griffin III - QB - Washington Redskins
Dec. 31, 2012 - 1:35 AM ET

Robert Griffin III completed 9-of-18 passes for 100 yards in Washington's 28-18 Week 17, NFC East clinching win over the Cowboys, adding six rushes for 63 yards and a touchdown as the Redskins earned their first playoff berth since 2007-08.

Although they've made the playoffs twice in the intervening years, the division title is Washington's first since 1999. They were coached and quarterbacked by Norv Turner and Brad Johnson, respectively, that season. The passing yards were Griffin's second fewest of the year, while he continued to look tentative in the run game as he nursed his sprained knee. He ran the zone-read to perfection, however, helping to enable Alfred Morris to bust off consistently huge chunks of yardage. Griffin also had just enough burst to get around the edge, which was best illustrated on his 10-yard TD run in the third. Although he has a home playoff game to play against Seattle, RGIII finishes his sensational rookie season the owner of 3,200 passing yards, 815 rushing yards, 27 total touchdowns and just seven turnovers. He's a special talent.
