Rivera confirms J-Stew had setback with ankle
Jonathan Stewart - RB - Carolina Panthers
Dec. 27, 2012 - 2:40 PM ET

Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said Jonathan Stewart (ankle) suffered a setback, and he's unlikely to play this week against the Saints.

Stewart didn't practice again on Thursday after he sat out of Wednesday's session. DeAngelo Williams will handle the load for the Week 17 finale versus New Orleans, while Mike Tolbert fills in in short-yardage situations. Stewart will finish the season with 93 carries for 336 yards and one touchdown in the first year of a six-year, $37.8 million contract.
