According to Ken Davidoff of the New York Post, the Mets have expressed interest in lefy Francisco Liriano.
They've also made contact with the agent for 36-year-old right-hander Carl Pavano. The Mets will go on the cheap to replace Cy Young Award winner R.A. Dickey, hoping to catch lightning in a bottle while the prospects they have acquired marinate in the farm system. Liriano posted an ugly 5.34 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 167/87 K/BB ratio in 156 2/3 innings this past season between the Twins and White Sox. He'll probably accept a one-year deal.
