Jerry Kelly three off the lead at Merion GC
June 13, 2013 - 4:45 PM ET

Jerry Kelly turned in an even-par 70 for his opening round of the U.S. Open.

Kelly earned his spot in the field via the sectional qualifier in Memphis. He capitalized today by squeezing three birdies in between a bogey and a double. He was the first to sign for a score this low among the golfers that began their rounds on the first hole. He's three strokes back of the clubhouse lead.
