Eric Meierdierks punctuated a 4-under-par 31-35=66 in the third round of the FedEx St. Jude Classic with a hole-in-one on the par-3 eighth hole.
His ace was an 8-iron from 167 yards, coming after birdies on the par-5 third and par-4 seventh. He put himself in the mix with a birdie on the par-4 10th, but suffered a messy three-putt bogey on the par-5 16th for his only blemish of the round. The rookie has yet to do anything better than a tie for 50th in 11 previous events, so he is well positioned at 7-under 203 for his best finish on the PGA TOUR in Sunday's finale. Of note, he leads the field in driving distance.
