Gailey confirms Fred Jackson done for season
Fred Jackson - RB - Buffalo Bills
Dec. 10, 2012 - 3:55 PM ET

Bills coach Chan Gailey confirmed at Monday's presser that Fred Jackson (knee) is done for the season, and will likely be placed on injured reserve.

It's a matter of when, not if, Jackson's sprained MCL lands him on I.R. It's the second straight season the soon-to-be 32-year-old Jackson will finish on injured reserve, and calls his Bills' future into question. Jackson is under contract for $2.15 million in 2013, and is due a $300,000 roster bonus in March. If C.J. Spiller runs like he's capable of over the season's final three games, the Bills might decide to find a younger and cheaper power-back complement in the offseason. For now, Tashard Choice will take Jackson's role on offense, though he should be in for dramatically-smaller workloads. Whether Gailey likes it or not, Spiller will be the Bills' bellcow down the stretch.
