Phillies pick up Michael Young from Rangers
Michael Young - 3B - Philadelphia Phillies
Dec. 9, 2012 - 1:50 PM ET

Phillies acquired INF Michael Young and cash considerations from the Rangers for RHPs Josh Lindblom and Lisalverto Bonilla.

The deal is official following commissioner Bud Selig's approval. The Rangers are expected to send $10 million to the Phillies to cover the $16 million Young is owed for next season. After playing all over the infield and at DH for Texas the last two years, Young will be Philadelphia's everyday third baseman. He'll be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2012 that saw him bat just .277/.312/.370 with eight homers.
