Haren passes physical, Nats deal is official

Nationals signed RHP Dan Haren to a one-year, $13 million contract.
Haren passed his physical Friday -- which was no slam dunk -- to make the deal official. The veteran right-hander has dealt with back and hip issues and declining velocity over the last few years, but he's a nice gamble for the Nats on a one-year deal. He'll slot in behind Stephen Strasburg, Gio Gonzalez and Jordan Zimmermann and ahead of Ross Detwiler in the Nats' formidable rotation.
