Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports that the Cubs have signed Nate Schierholtz to a one-year, $2.25 million contract.
And the Yankees miss out on another one of their targets. Schierholtz, who could also earn $500,000 more in incentives, can play some defense at the corner outfield spots but has posted an uninspiring .270/.319/.409 batting line over six seasons. He could wind up starting in right field if Brett Jackson begins the season at Triple-A.
