ESPN New York's Adam Rubin reports that Miguel Olivo is the Mets' top target among free agent catchers.
Olivo, 34, batted just .222/.239/.381 with 12 home runs and a .620 OPS in 87 games with the Mariners this past season, but the Mets rate him higher than other right-handed hitting catchers like Chris Snyder and Matt Treanor. Of course, that's not saying much. They also aren't interested in reunions with the likes of Kelly Shoppach, Rod Barajas and Jesus Flores. It's still possible the Mets could land a catcher in a trade.
