SS is Everth Cabrera's to lose

Padres general manager Josh Byrnes said that while Logan Forsythe will get a chance to compete for the shortstop job, the position is Everth Cabrera's "to lose."
The Padres reportedly were entertaining the idea of sticking Jedd Gyorko at second base and moving Forsythe to short, but it appears to be a backup plan, at least for now. Gyorko figures to be a regular at some point in 2013, and whether it's Forsythe or Cabrera at shortstop then likely depends on who is playing better at the time.
