Trevor Bayne averted near disaster to battle back to a fourth-place finish in the No. 6 Valvoline NextGen Ford Mustang in Saturday's Nationwide Series race at Phoenix.
Just after the half-way mark, Bayne took a high line to avoid a wreck and uncertainty over his tires forced him to the pits for two fresh tires and extra fuel. That extra fuel let the No.6 car stay on the track late in the race while the rest of the field pitted, and pushed Bayne to a top-five finish in the Dollar General 200. Bayne moved up 15 spots in the NNS standings to 11th.-Roush Fenway Racing
