Schwartzel under par but loses Memorial lead
June 1, 2013 - 8:35 AM ET

First-round leader Charl Schwartzel followed his opening 65 at the Memorial with a 1-under-par 38-33=71 to reach the halfway point in 8-under 136, one stroke off the 36-hole clubhouse lead.

Schwartzel hit 14 greens in regulation in his second round and circled five birdies, the longest of which measuring 11'9" at the 17th hole, but he went 2-for-4 in scrambling with one bogey and a double. He also three-putted the par-4 10th from just inside 42 feet for another bogey.
