Dangerous situation briefly halts second rd.
May 31, 2013 - 5:00 PM ET

The second round of the Memorial was suspended due to the threat of inclement weather.

The horn sounded shortly after 2:30 p.m. ET. Golf Channel reported that there was a lightning strike about five miles away, and that the delay would be brief. UPDATE: Play resumed just before 3:00 p.m. Fabian Gomez was among today's early draw in which all completed the second round. After opening with a 76, he spun a 4-under-par 35-33=68 today. He offset three bogeys and seven birdies, including conversions from 11'3" at the 11th hole and 40'9" at 1. He reached the midpoint in even-par 144 and will play the weekend for the first time since the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
