Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Tuesday that he expects Derek Jeter (ankle) to be ready for Opening Day.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi said last week that there was a possibility Jeter wouldn't be recovered from ankle surgery in time for the opener, but Cashman is a little more tuned into the situation and feels confident that the 38-year-old will be fine as long as he avoids setbacks. Jeter is coming off a season in which he batted .316/.362/.429 with 15 homers.
