Bae spins his lowest lid-lifter in 15 months
May 16, 2013 - 5:30 PM ET

Sang-moon Bae carded a 4-under-par 34-32=66 in his opening round of the HP Byron Nelson Championship.

Bae has cashed in 10 of 14 starts this season, but he's been stuck on one top 25 since a tie of eighth at the Northern Trust Open, which explains why he's just 95th in FedExCup points. Today he went 5-for-17 in birdie looks, including conversions of 15'5" and 30'2" at the fifth and 15th holes, respectively. Unfortunately, he couldn't submit a clean card due to a bogey at the par-4 eighth, the only hole where he didn't hit the green in regulation, but it's his lowest first round since a 65 at last year's Farmers. He signed today's card sitting six strokes off the clubhouse lead.
