According to ESPN's Ed Werder, Jay Cutler has now suffered "nearly a half-dozen" concussions in his football-playing career.
This presumably dates back to Cutler's Vanderbilt days. It also makes it more possible that Cutler will struggle to receive medical clearance in time for Monday night's clash with San Francisco. Jason Campbell is Cutler's backup. Coach Lovie Smith has been clear that he will err on the side of caution with Cutler, instead of putting him at increased medical risk if Cutler isn't ready.
