The Red Sox and Mariners are rumored to be working on a possible deal that would send centerfielder Johnny Damon and starting pitcher Byung Hyun Kim to Seattle in exchange for starting pitcher Freddy Garcia and minor-league starter Cha Seung Baek, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported Friday.

Under the rumored proposal, Garcia would then be traded to Kansas City for outfielder Carlos Beltran.

Mariners general manager Bill Bavasi told the P-I that a deal wasn't near.
