  • MIA Starting Pitcher #27
Cabrera made a serious statement in his return to Miami’s starting rotation, generating 17 swinging strikes and finishing with an elite 42 percent CSW in a highly impressive season debut. It was just his third career double-digit strikeout performance. The 26-year-old former top prospect, who looked outstanding during spring training before landing on the injured list in mid-March with a right shoulder impingement, has dealt with serious control issues in the past, which made it even more impressive that he handed out only one free pass in his highly-anticipated return. The strikeout upside has always been there for Cabrera, which means he could rapidly evolve into an upper-echelon fantasy contributor, if he’s solved his omnipresent control issues. He should be rostered in all fantasy formats until further notice and will aim to keep the momentum going this weekend in a home start against the Cubs in Miami’s pitcher-friendly loan Depot park.
  • CHC Left Fielder #27
It’s a big blow for the Cubs and for fantasy managers who carry Suzuki on the roster. The 29-year-old has hit .305 with an .893 OPS along with three homers and 13 RBI over the first 15 games and 68 plate appearances of the season. Alexander Canario is coming up from Triple-A Iowa to take Suzuki’s place on the roster. If there are no setbacks, the 29-year-old could be back by the end of April or near the start of May.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #23
The move will clear room for Edward Cabrera to return from the IL. The movie is surprising considering Meyer has been one of the only bright spots for Miami this season, posting a 2.12 ERA in 17 innings across his first three starts; however, he also missed all of last season while recovering from Tommy John surgery. The team has been clear that they were going to limit Meyer’s innings this season, so it’s unclear what their plan is for him in the minors or how long he will be down for.
  • BOS Third Baseman #11
Devers had missed the previous four games while resting a shoulder injury. He injured the shoulder during spring training and reaggravated the injury early in the week on a swing. The Red Sox claimed he just needed a few days to fully rest so perhaps Devers is in the clear; however, this is the type of injury that can frequently pop up against, especially with a hitter who swings as violently as Devers does.
  • MIL Right Fielder #28
Wiemer, 25, has hit .220 with a .688 OPS over 58 at-bats with Nashville. The outfielder mostly struggled in his time in the majors for the Brewers in 2024, and is more of a long-term option than someone fantasy managers should be considering for the 2024 campaign.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #28
It was a bit surprising to see Miller pulled after just four innings and 73 pitches during Wednesday’s start against the Twins, and perhaps this was why. It’s unclear how serious the ailment is or how long the 25-year-old hurler will be sidelined for. Either way, it’s a very unfortunate break for fantasy managers. Stay tuned.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #41
Ryan served up a two-run blast to Kerry Carpenter in the opening frame after a throwing error by Jose Miranda kept the inning alive, but was virtually un-hittable afterwards amassing an eye-popping 20 swinging strikes and finishing with an elite 39 percent CSW. He kept Detroit’s lineup off the scoreboard into the sixth inning when rookie Colt Keith delivered a go-ahead RBI single. He’ll bring a strong 2.60 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 24/2 K/BB ratio across 17 innings (three starts) into a rematch against the Tigers on Friday at Target Field.
  • NYY Relief Pitcher #35
Holmes was called upon to protect a one-run lead in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader and wound up needing just 14 pitches (nine strikes) to preserve the win. He surrendered a leadoff double to Ramón Laureano, who wound up being stranded in scoring position, following strikeouts of Bo Naylor and Estevan Florial before Brayan Rocchio grounded out to end the contest. The 31-year-old righty has converted six of his seven save opportunities this season.
  • MIL Right Fielder #22
Murphy added that Yelich won’t play this weekend against the Orioles due to lower back discomfort, and will likely wind up requiring a trip to the injured list if he’s not ready to return for Monday’s series opener against the Padres. There should be some clarity on his status for fantasy managers at some point later this weekend or early next week. Stay tuned.
  • BOS Third Baseman #11
Devers remains absent from Boston’s lineup for the third consecutive contest due to an ongoing left shoulder soreness. The positive news here is that all indications are he won’t require a trip to the injured list and the Red Sox are merely proceeding with an abundance of caution since it’s so early in the year. It’ll be Bobby Dalbec taking over at the hot corner on Saturday in his absence. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.
