Webb Simpson sub-70; first time in 11 rounds

Webb Simpson spun a bogey-free, 5-under-par 32-33=67 in his opening round of THE PLAYERS.
Simpson is one of many for whom success has escaped his grasp at TPC Sawgrass. He hadn't broken 70 in 10 previous rounds and his only payday in four previous starts resulted in a forgettable T69 n 2011. He split 11 (of 14) fairways and hit 14 greens in regulation. Along the way, he picked off five birdies, including respective conversions from 13'4" and 10'8" at holes 2 and 6. He walked off sitting four strokes off the clubhouse lead.
