Lingmerth (68) looking to end 0-for-5 slide
May 9, 2013 - 2:15 PM ET

David Lingmerth shot a 4-under-par 33-35=68 in his opening round of THE PLAYERS.

The rookie from Sweden has done nothing since losing in a playoff at the Humana Challenge. He's missed eight of his last 10 cuts, including his last five, and hasn't finished better than T50 at Bay Hill. Today he split 13 (of 14) fairways and hit 13 greens in regulation en route to five birdies and one bogey. His most interesting experience occurred at the par-4 14th and 15th holes. After saving par from 22'3" at the former, he holed out from six yards just off the green for birdie at the latter. Lingmerth signed his card sitting five strokes off the clubhouse lead.
