Gillis goes 1-for-12 in birdie opps in return

Tom Gillis looped Quail Hollow in 4-over-par 38-38=76 in his opening round of the Wells Fargo Championship.
The good news is that he's back inside the ropes after consecutive early withdrawals the last two weeks. The bad news is that he converted on only one of 12 birdie opportunities at Quail Hollow today, and then proceeded to bogey five of the other six holes. Everything Gillis has been giving us lately smells of a guy barely hanging on as he approaches 45 years of age (in July).
