Co-leader Daniel Summerhays circles 8 birdies

Daniel Summerhays recorded a 5-under-par 32-35=67 in his opening round of the Wells Fargo Championship to become the sixth to own a piece of the clubhouse lead.
Summerhays arrived at Quail Hollow having cashed in six of his 12 starts this season. He has just one top 25 (T7, Valero Texas Open) but he's just inside the bubble for playoff eligibility at 117th in FedExCup points. Today he went 8-for-13 in birdie opportunities, including conversions from 12'2" at the first hole and 11'8" at 14, but he got up and down just two of five times after missing the green in regulation.
