Lucas Glover spun a 4-under-par 34-34=68 in his opening round of the Wells Fargo Championship, finishing one stroke back of the five golfers sharing the clubhouse lead.
Glover's baby isn't due until May 16, but the anticipation over when he splits town has reached a fever pitch. He acknowledged last week that he's tail lights when he gets the calls (i.e. his wife goes into labor). Until then, enjoy riding his back, which has been strong of late. Fresh off a T4 in New Orleans, he went 5-for-15 in birdie opportunities today, a set that included respective conversions from 15'4", 22'9" and 14'3" at the seventh, eighth and 15th holes. His lone bogey occurred at the par-4 ninth where he failed to get up and down from 61 yards out. He didn't do himself any favors by finding the left rough off the tee.
