PHOENIX - Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, who spent three years in an Indiana prison on a rape conviction, has registered as a sex offender in Arizona, officials said Saturday.
Tyson registered Friday morning at the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, Lt. J.J. Tuttle said.
Tyson has been living in Arizona, where convicted sex offenders are required to register with police, for several months. He was convicted in 1992 of raping a beauty pageant contestant.
Tyson, 37, is expected to return to the ring against Kevin McBride on July 31. The fight would be the first for Tyson since Feb. 22, 2003, when he knocked out Clifford Etienne in 49 seconds in Memphis, Tenn.
