The Padres may not call up prospect third baseman Jedd Gyorko in September.
There are a couple of factors at play here, as Gyorko isn't required to be added to the 40-man roster this offseason and the Padres want to get a longer look at middle infielders Logan Forsythe, Alexi Amarista and Everth Cabrera down the stretch. Still, he should compete for a roster spot during spring training next year. Gyorko, who turns 24 in September, is batting .311/.371/.551 with 30 home runs, 100 RBI and a .551 OPS this season between Double-A San Antonio and Triple-A Tucson.
