Zimmermann outstanding in win over Astros
Jordan Zimmermann - S - Washington Nationals
Aug. 10, 2012 - 12:00 AM ET

Jordan Zimmermann was outstanding in Thursday's victory over the Astros, scattering just three hits over six scoreless innings while racking up a season-high 11 strikeouts.

While Stephen Strasburg deservedly gets a lot of publicity at the front of the Nationals rotation, Zimmermann shouldn't be overlooked for his tremendous contributions this season. The 26-year-old right-hander is now 9-6 with a sparkling 2.35 ERA and outstanding 110/25 K/BB ratio. He'll attempt to replicate these results when he does battle against the Giants in San Francisco on Monday.
