NEW DELHI (AP) - India's Olympic mystery woman has apologized for gatecrashing the opening ceremony in London and walking at the head of her country's confused delegation.
Madhura Nagendra told India's NDTV news channel she made an "error in judgment" when she marched alongside Indian flag-bearer Sushil Kumar at the head of the delegation of 40 athletes.
Her Olympic cameo infuriated Indian officials who demanded an explanation of how she was allowed into the parade of athletes.
Nagendra said she was part of the opening ceremony cast and did not breach security. She said she got caught up in the chaos and excitement of the moment and ended up leading the delegation around the stadium.
