S. Brown joins Gomez in Puerto Rico Open lead
March 9, 2013 - 4:20 PM ET

Scott Brown, playing in the final pairing, fired a 5-under-par 35-32=67 in the third round of the Puerto Rico Open to join Fabian Gomez in the lead at 18-under 198.

Given that he's playing with conditional status and is splitting time between the PGA TOUR and the Web.com Tour, his ability to perform at such a high level with so much uncertainty surrounding him is impressive. With six birdies to just one bogey in his navigation of Trump International Golf Club-Puerto Rico, he displayed an ability to eliminate mistakes while still freeing himself up enough to circle birdies. We will watch to see if Sunday is a life-changer for the second-year TOUR player.
