Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports that the Yankees have "no intention" of bidding on Cole Hamels unless the Phillies lower their asking price dramatically.
Olney reported over the weekend that the Phillies are asking for four or five prospects in exchange for Hamels. The acquiring team would be unable to offer arbitration to the impending free agent, so it's highly unlikely the Phillies would be able to get that much in return. As of now, the Phillies continue to say that they want to sign Hamels to a long-term deal, but the tune could change over the next couple of weeks.
