Padres demote Hundley, Grandal coming up

Padres optioned C Nick Hundley to Triple-A Tucson.
Quite a fall from grace for a guy who signed a three-year, $9 million contract extension with the Padres in March. Hundley is hitting just .166 with three homers and a .485 OPS through 55 games this year, so the Padres want him to work through his struggles on the minor league level. Top prospect Yasmani Grandal is expected to join the Padres on Saturday in Denver.
