Goggin leads in chase for second Panama win
Feb. 23, 2013 - 5:40 PM ET

Mathew Goggin will carry a two-stroke lead over Bobby Gates, Roland Thatcher and Kevin Foley into the final round of the Panama Claro Championship after a third-round 4-under-par 34-32=66.

Goggin has fired all three of his rounds in the 60s this week, reaching the 54-hole mark at 7-under 203. His round started innocently enough, with one birdie and nine pars on his first 10 holes. He heated up and rattled off four consecutive birdies beginning with the 11th hole, but immediately gave two back with bogeys on 15 and 16. A final birdie on the 18th has him searching for his second win in three years at this event. He did not defend his title in 2012 because he had graduated from the Web.com Tour onto the PGA TOUR. In his 2011 win, he scored in the 60s in each of his four rounds.
