David Garrard rising atop Dolphins QB battle?
David Garrard - QB - Miami Dolphins
June 29, 2012 - 10:30 AM ET

ESPN's Adam Schefter stated on SportsCenter Friday that David Garrard looked like the leader in the Dolphins' quarterback competition during spring practices.

"The more you hear, the more it sounds like David Garrard has really taken this opportunity to emerge as the favorite to be the starting quarterback down in Miami," said Schefter. "Very impressive, adept, good footwork. Matt Moore's been good, Ryan Tannehill's been good, but David Garrard has looked the most comfortable of any of the quarterbacks." Garrard hasn't played in a West Coast offense like Joe Philbin's since the early 2000s at East Carolina, so it's impressive that he's coming along quickly. We still expect Moore to beat out the 34-year-old, injury-plagued Garrard when contact work starts later this summer.
