Westwood a rare first-round exit in Arizona
Feb. 21, 2013 - 6:50 PM ET

Lee Westwood was sent packing by Rafael Cabrera-Bello in the Player Bracket after 19 holes in their opening-round match of the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship.

Ah, match play. RCB didn't own a lead until the conclusion. Westwood held as much as a 3-up margin after nine holes but would give away the 18th with a bogey to give the Spaniard a chance. Cabrera-Bello capitalized with a birdie at the par-4 first to bounce Westwood who parred. It's the first time since 2007 at The Gallery at Dove Mountain that the Brit has failed to survive the first round. Instead, RCB will now prep for his second-round match with Martin Kaymer on Friday.
