The opening round of the Northern Trust Open was suspended for darkness at 5:43 p.m. PT.
It's not unusual for the first two rounds of this tournament to bleed into a second day. It's a 144-man field on one course in mid-February, not to mention that rain and wind have slowed play in recent years. Eighteen golfers failed to complete their openers, including PGA TOUR rookie D.H. Lee, who is back in action after a surprising early withdrawal from last week's stop at Pebble Beach. Lee is 3-over-par through 15 holes. He and the other 17 will return to Riviera at 7:20 a.m. on Friday to completed their rounds. The second round remains scheduled to begin at 6:40 a.m.
